Intro

Circa 2008 I had the opportunity to work on Cancer Dojo, a cancer companion app to help empower cancer patients to play an active roll in their recovery.

Gamefying a path to recovery.

The project draw heavy inspiration from similar mobile apps, namely Headspace & Duolingo. Cancer Dojo was an ambitious project, the ultimate goal was to create a guided companion app with a variety of different exercises and activities, for example a challenge could be to draw what your cancer looked like, another exercies could be listening to voice notes form another cancer survivor. We also wanted it feel very personalised. All of these different modules added a lot of scope and difficulty into the build process but at the time we were shooting for the stars. On top of that the client had received funding to build this app and ultimately needed to monetise it, so there was another element of paywalling that needed top be figured out.

Education

From there I shifted to wireframing a number of common ux problems, namely the onboarding and engagement, and at a later point, monetization/premium offerings.

Simple Component Library

For any project there's some development of a library of reusable assets.

Interactions

Bringing a design to life through interactive prototyping is a necessary step to get a real feel for a product.
